Wedge Fitting
Short game shots have the least margin for error against wind — a soft, high pitch that would hold in calm air can get knocked well off-line by a gust crossing the green. We fit wedges for the shots you actually need around here: firm turf, occasional gusts, and greens that don't forgive a bad number.
Bounce and Grind for Desert Conditions
Hardpan lies and thin turf are the norm on much of the Valley's course conditioning for a good part of the year. A wedge with too little bounce can dig and chunk on firm ground; too much bounce can bounce the leading edge into the ball on a tight lie. We check your typical angle of attack against real turf samples, not just a chart.
Once the sole geometry is right, we work on trajectory: a knockdown or punch shot that stays low and stable in a crosswind, versus the higher, softer shot you'd play on a calmer green.
Building a Wedge Set That Holds Up Close In
Bounce Angle
Matched to your attack angle and typical turf firmness, so the sole interacts with the ground the same way on a firm fairway as it does off a tight lie near the green.
Grind
Heel and toe relief let the face open cleanly for greenside shots without adding unwanted bounce back into the equation on a punch or knockdown swing.
Loft Gapping
Even loft spacing across your wedges keeps distance control predictable, which matters more once a gust is already adding variance to every shot around the green.
Tighten Up Your Short Game in the Wind
Sessions run 45–60 minutes and include real turf samples plus calm and gusted trajectory testing.
